Summer's Close

Rohin -- you have grown into such a wonderful little toddler! You're such a happy and thoughtful little boy -- mommy and daddy are so proud of you. Your language has really developed -- and you talk all the time and even in pretty much complete sentences. Just today you said "eat pizza and sit outside" when telling us where and what you wanted for dinner.

You love love love to read books and are so cute to watch. You will sit on the sofa and read book after book and can recite parts of books. You seem to love the cat in the hat and other Dr. Seuss books.

We have been taking creek walks recently and you really enjoy going into the river next to our house and throwing stones in the creek. The whole family goes about once per week! You wade through the river by yourself and we walk all the way from the back of the house to the front in the creek. We also had some family friends over Labor day for a really long creek walk -- and you do a great job in the river and even picked up your own walking stick.

Recently, you have become amazingly adept at driving your car around the house. You love to also encourage Talin to ride on his carand you and your brother zoom around! You and Talin also love to chase each other around the house and squeal at the top of your lungs!

In the past couple weeks we have been doing so many things. We visited the farm and you go to see your grandma and grandpa who just came from abroad -- and you loved running around and helping to pick tomatoes. We rode the gator too! Speaking of gardening, you have been such a big help to daddy in the garden and not only love to pick tomatoes in the side garden but help water it too. We will pick butternut squash and peppers soon!

We also had a birthday party for Argent at Ticonderoga farms and we had such a good time there. You loved playing in this little outdoor boat with all the other children. We also took a tractor ride and you had a lot of fun you went down a BIG slide with mommy.

You both love to pretend now Rohin and play barber shop and pretend to cut each other's hair with a bubble blower that sounds like an electric shaver. You both also love taking baths together! Sometimes even daddy gets in the bath tub with both of you! You also love to sing happy birthday to wake up Talin sometimes in the morning.

Also, earlier we wrote about a small earthquake this summer -- well we also had a flood again! Our house was 360 degrees water and the water in the back was up to daddy's waist. Towards the end of the flood, we all went out and you and Talin played at the edge of the water in the backyard and had so much fu

Also, this past week (1st week of September), you started your pre-school. On your first day, mommy and daddy both took you for an hour and you did great -- playing with the kitchen toys and just loved it! On day 2, mommy took you and you were so good that you occupied yourself and mommy was able to leave you with your teachers for a little bit and you didn't get upset. We're so proud of you Rohin.
n!

We love you so much Rohin!

Mid Summer!

Rohin, It's the middle of July and you're become such a mature and wonderful little boy. Mommy and daddy are so proud of you. So many things are changing and happening all at once Rohin. You love to kiss your little sister and pet her head. Your language is really developing -- you are talking in sentences practically and even saying funny things like "rock and roll" and "transform and roll-out". You love to zoom around the house in your little toy car (and can move amazingly fast). You also love to water your plants and have started picking your tomatoes recently and even helped mommy and daddy make mint tea the other day from the garden. You are very helpful and always get bibs for you and Talin prior to eating and love to play pretend sleep with your rabbit. In this game you close the door to the bedroom and say rabbit is sleeping. For some reason you love to say "be right back" when you run off to do things.

We've had a busy summer so far. We had July 4th at Ammuma and Thatha's lake house and you even got to see big fireworks that daddy lit off. We also had a big graduation party for your Auntie Sadhana. You had a great time running up and down the stairs that night and wore out your poor Auntie Savitha.

In other news - we had an earthquake measuring 3.7! Your mother was up that morning around 5am and came running into the bedroom to tell daddy after the house started to shake! She ran into the wooden penguin in the hallway with daddy waking up, rubbing his eyes, having slept through the whole thing. But it was certainly one of the biggest earthquakes ever in this area.

That's it for now Rohin. Oh -- the pictures below were taken at a recent visit to a children's gym on a Saturday morning. We love you so much!

Summer Time 2010!

Well, it's been a busy June so far Rohin. You've done a great job of watering your garden this year (we're growing peppers, tomatoes, parsely, squash, and dill). Well -- July 1 -- you actually went out and picked your first tomato and then proceeded to eat almost the whole one!

In other news, you are learning language every quickly. But one funny statement that you like to say is "you do it" -- but really you mean -- "i want to do it". This is particularly funny when we brush are teeth and you tell mommy or daddy -- you do it! Your vocabulary is growing so fast Rohin -- it's amazing. You can count to 10 now and can sing your ABCs up to G!

Also for a first time, the other day, you went over to Nana Judy's house for an hour or so and read books with her! Your surprised mommy when she asked if you want to go over to her house and you said yes!

Another funny story recently is that you went up to Talin after daddy gave you and Talin a cheese stick -- and clinked your cheese sticks together and said -- cheers! You picked this up from mommy's birthday party when we had a big toast! Speaking of, mommy had her 36th birthday this year and daddy surprised her with bringing over three different singers. You had a great time and watched all the singers and the highlight of the evening was when you and Jovin both sang happy birthday to mommy!

Finally, we went over to a party for Aria recently and you had a wonderful time. You and Talin were dressed up in suits. You love to eat cookies and was so excited to participate in making a music video. You also loved the balloon toys and were chasing other kids around with your toy swords. You and Talin loved to play with each other at the party and chased each other around often.

That's it for now -- we love you Rohin!

Summer is coming soon!

Well son, you're growing up so fast -- it's incredible. Wanted to do a quick blog post to update on some important things. One big one is that you've been working on potty training and are doing a great job (you get a chocolate chip) -- so that's not too bad of a way to score chocolate! Otherwise, your language is incredible. You repeat everything perfectly. You're starting to get a handle on numbers (counted out 10 - 13 recently) and colors. You love to read books and still LOVE Dora (really love). In other big news, you got to celebrate Talin's 1st Birthday -- we had 80 people over -- and you had a great time playing in the backyard. Soon, with the new baby coming, Talin is moving into your room. You love to talk about the new baby coming soon and about Talin moving into your room. Just this evening, grandpa helped daddy put in new furniture in your room -- you laughed and were so happy and said "like it"! That's it for now-- you'll be a big brother 2x over soon!

The Cat in the...

Rohin, you’re changing almost every day! You’re such a kind little two year old. So many things to talk about. First, you’re very tall and starting to outgrow your two year old one piece pajamas already! Your vocabulary is changing also – you’re stringing words together and amaze mommy and daddy with what you can say. Recently, ammuma called and mommy handed the phone to you – you said “hi” so clearly that ammuma had to ask who it was! You love to talk on the phone, particularly to ammuma and grandma.

Your favorite TV show is Dora the explorer. Daddy will sometimes sing the first part of the Dora song “Dora Dora Dora Dora…” and wait – and you will in this cute high pitched voice say “explorer”. You also have this amazing talent at remembering almost every last word of every story we ever read to you. For example, with the Cat and the Hat – we can say “I did not like, not one little….” And you say “bit”. You know this for so many books – even books like Courdoroy – which is a story you love also besides cat in the hat. You also seem to love the personal penguin book. I new personal favorite book of yours is a potty book. You’re a great reader and love to read with mommy and daddy.

Speaking of potty – it’s POTTY TIME – at the Jopp household. You’re starting to wear big boy underwear and trying your luck with potty training. And you’re doing a great job! You have a couple accidents, but by and large – you’re getting the hang of it. That’s pretty amazing for your age.
Speaking of potty – well, of course you and your brother Talin get along infamously and like to repeat each other. If Talin spits, Rohin spits. Well, after your brother had a potty accident while getting a bath – you ran into the bathroom to see all the commotion while daddy was cleaning up Talin’s mess. Daddy made sure to tell you not to poo in the tub. Well – of course, the next day, Cate was giving you a bath and sure enough – you poohed too! So like Talin, bath tub got a little shorter for a while to give you both some time to gain better bowel control.

We also did a photo shoot for Talin and you recently. A woman offered to take model pictures of you both wearing clothes. The pictures turned out really cute – and you got to sit on our neigbor’s lawn tractor for pictures and got to drink chocoloate milk for the first time (since it matched your brown shirt). Needless to say, you love chocolate milk now. You’re still a huge cookie fan too!

Also, one of your other favorite things to do is to ask for your brother. Recently, mommy took you to a Dora show and you kept asking for Talin the whole time (who was with daddy at home). One funny situation was when we were in church last month. Daddy had to take Talin out because he was a little noisy. Well, mommy was holding you and you barely saw us over the crowd and you yelled “TALIN”! You both are great brothers to each other. Mommy and daddy hope you all stay close to each other – as family is the most important thing in life.

Oh yes – big news. For your’s and Talin’s birthday you both got a new swingset in the backyard. You love the sliding board! So going “outside” is a big hit. Speaking of – we are having a beautiful spring and spending lots of time outside. We planted a new garden recently and you have been going out to water it diligently.

One last update -- your baby sister is coming soon Rohin -- so you're going to be a big brother twice over! That’s it for now Rohin. Mommy and daddy love you so much!

Cherry Blossoms

Welcome to April Rohin! The weather is incredible and the flowers are now in bloom. This week, we went over to see the Cherry Blossoms in Washington, DC. They bring back memories for mommy and daddy when they first went to see them before you were born. So it was mommy, daddy, Rohin and Talin. We had a great day and then went to M&S Grill for lunch.

In other news, your language is really developing Rohin. You are stringing your words together to form sentences. You've become a little pickier about food recently -- but love your veggies and fruits -- it's just meats that are more difficult. You're doing a great job also reading your books. You also now love to sleep with you giant pooh bear in your bed at night. This weekend we're heading over to grandma and grandpa's for Easter! Happy Easter Rohin!

Happy 2nd Birthday Rohin!!!

Happy 2nd birthday Rohin! We had such a wonderful time celebrating your birthday today Rohin. Mommy, daddy, Talin, Ammuma, Grandma, Grandpa, and your aunt Savitha and aunt Sadhana and godmom Usha were all there to celebrate with you. Mommy made you a car cake for your birthday! We went to your first circus ever and you LOVED it! You ate cotton candy and were in awe the whole time. We then came back home and grilled out and had chicken and beef and then ate your cake! You even blew out your own candles and told everyone that you were 2 years old! Mommy and daddy are so proud of you Rohin!
